Computer Literacy

"Training the workforce of tomorrow with today's high schools is like trying to teach kids about today's computers on a 50-year-old mainframe."  (Bill Gates in 2005)

History of Computing... Development... Program Applications....and more

Computer Education, is what the people wanted nowadays. In some places, there are computer schools to educate people the basic knowledge of computer. It is really amazing that until now there are some people who work hard, study hard and learn more to make more advanced technologies so that we can have advanced knowledge. It is very important for us to know computers considering the history, how it was being started, who were the people responsible of its existence and how it is being developed. The fact is, as many advanced technologies invented, many people will be equipped and as a result they are able to invent more.

As we study and learn more about the basic knowledge of computers. We want also to perform some basic operations on the computers. As you continue to navigate this site, you will learn that a computer has two main parts, the hardware and software. The hardware refers to visual components of the computer whereas, the software refers to the applications inside the computer. We don't want to learn the basic only. We want to dig more, learning the basics is the first step.

As you can hear and see, computer literacy is a useful tool in the industry worldwide. Mostly, companies use computers for storing a lot of informations, computing large numbers that calculator can't make.  On the other side, in schools, it is useful as a word processing tool for projects,  reports, creating spreadsheets for teachers. Computers can make our work easier and more accurate.

This website will give useful informations about computers. All  informations are taken from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org), a totally free encylopedia for everyone. Somebody have made a research for giving informations like this.

It is being said that computer is a machine for manipulating data according to a list of instructions known as a program.

Computers are extremely versatile. In fact, they are universal information-processing machines. According to the Church?Turing thesis, a computer with a certain minimum threshold capability is in principle capable of performing the tasks of any other computer, from those of a personal digital assistant to a supercomputer, as long as time and memory capacity are not considerations. Therefore, the same computer designs may be adapted for tasks ranging from processing company payrolls to controlling unmanned spaceflights. Due to technological advancement, modern electronic computers are exponentially more capable than those of preceding generations (a phenomenon partially described by Moore's Law).

Computers take numerous physical forms. Early electronic computers were the size of a large room, and such enormous computing facilities still exist for specialized scientific computation supercomputers {1}and for the transaction processing requirements of large companies, generally called mainframes. Smaller computers for individual use, called personal computers, and their portable equivalent, the laptop computer, are ubiquitous information-processing and communication tools and are perhaps what most non-experts think of as "a computer". However, the most common form of computer in use today is the embedded computer, small computers used to control another device. Embedded computers control machines from fighter aircraft to digital cameras.
